Terms of Use
The agreement between you and Unhook when you use the app and this website.
Last updated October 20, 2026
The short version
Support, not medical care
Unhook helps you quit, but it isn't a doctor and can't diagnose or treat anything.
Be kind in the community
There's zero tolerance for abuse or objectionable content. Breaking the rules gets posts and accounts removed.
Your account, your responsibility
Keep your password safe, and share your progress link only with people you trust.
Free for now
Unhook is currently free. If paid features arrive, you'll see the price and terms before you buy.
1. Agreeing to these terms
These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and [Publisher name] (“we”, “us”), the publisher of Unhook. They cover the Unhook app and this website, unhookah.com (together, “Unhook”).
By downloading, opening or using Unhook, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Unhook.
2. Who can use Unhook
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement to use Unhook. You may not use Unhook where the law prohibits it.
3. Not medical advice
Unhook offers general information and self-tracking tools to support quitting hookah. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
Recovery timelines, breathing test scores, savings and other figures in the app are general estimates based on published research and the numbers you enter. They are not measurements of your health and can't predict what will happen to you.
Talk to a doctor, pharmacist or other qualified professional about quitting — especially if you are pregnant, have a health condition, take medication, or are thinking about nicotine replacement or other quit-smoking medicines. Never ignore professional advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read in Unhook.
If you have chest pain, trouble breathing or any other emergency, call your local emergency number straight away. If you are thinking about harming yourself, contact a crisis line — in the US, call or text 988.
4. Your account
You can use Unhook without an account. If you create one, you agree to give accurate information, keep your password confidential, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has used your account. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
You can delete your account at any time in the app — see Delete your account.
5. The community and your posts
Before posting in the community you agree to the Community Guidelines, which form part of these Terms. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You must not post anything that:
- harasses, bullies, threatens or demeans anyone, or promotes hate or violence;
- is sexually explicit, graphic, or encourages self-harm;
- promotes, sells or glamorises hookah, tobacco, nicotine or vaping products;
- contains links, contact details or personal information about you or anyone else;
- is spam, advertising, impersonation, or breaks the law or someone else's rights.
Posts are filtered automatically, members can report posts and mute other members, and we review reports, normally within 24 hours. We may remove any content and suspend or permanently ban any account that breaks these rules, at our discretion and without notice.
Your content stays yours. By posting, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store and display your posts within Unhook so the community can work. The licence ends when you delete the post or your account, except for copies kept with a report while it's reviewed. You're responsible for what you post and confirm you have the right to post it.
6. Accountability links
If you create an accountability link, anyone who has it can see the progress described in our Privacy Policy. You decide who receives it and are responsible for sharing it only with people you trust. You can stop or replace the link at any time in the app. We aren't responsible for what someone you've shared it with does with what they see.
7. Using Unhook fairly
You agree not to:
- copy, modify, reverse-engineer or resell the app, except where the law expressly allows it;
- try to access other people's data, or interfere with Unhook's security or servers;
- scrape or automatically collect information from Unhook;
- use the community, accountability links or contact form to send spam or anything unlawful; or
- use Unhook in any way that breaks the law or harms others.
8. Paid features
Unhook is currently free. We may introduce optional paid features or subscriptions in future, and some features that are free today may become part of them — we'll tell you in the app before that happens.
Before you buy anything, we'll show you the price, what's included and, for subscriptions, how renewal works. Purchases are made through Apple: payment, renewal, cancellation and refunds are handled through your Apple account under Apple's terms.
9. Our content and your licence to use the app
Unhook — its software, design, text and graphics — belongs to [Publisher name] or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on Apple devices that you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, in line with these Terms and the Usage Rules in Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions.
10. If you downloaded Unhook from the App Store
These terms apply in addition to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement:
- These Terms are between you and [Publisher name] only, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Unhook or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Unhook.
- If Unhook fails to meet any warranty that applies, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the price you paid for it, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Unhook.
- Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to Unhook or your use of it, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, or consumer protection claims, nor for investigating or defending any claim that Unhook infringes someone's intellectual property.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as “terrorist supporting”, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
11. Changes to Unhook
We're always improving Unhook, so features may change, and we may suspend or stop offering some or all of it. We'll try to give you notice of significant changes. If you don't have an account, your data exists only on your phone — deleting the app deletes it permanently.
12. Disclaimers
Unhook is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied — including that Unhook will be uninterrupted, error-free or accurate, or fit for a particular purpose. We can't promise that you'll quit or that you'll see any particular health result. Some places don't allow these exclusions, so some of them may not apply to you.
13. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of Unhook. Our total liability for any claim relating to Unhook is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$50.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
You agree to cover any claims, losses or costs arising from content you post or from your breach of these Terms, to the extent the law allows.
14. Ending this agreement
You can stop using Unhook and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if we're required to by law, or to protect other people. The sections that by their nature should continue — such as disclaimers, limits on liability and governing law — continue after this agreement ends.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms. We'll post the new version here and update the date at the top, and if a change is significant we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Unhook after that, you accept the updated Terms.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [State, Country], without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be handled by the courts there. If you're a consumer living in the UK or European Union, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and may bring proceedings in your local courts.
